j Studio Pots is a studio devoted to the craft of hand-thrown and hand-built pottery. Casey and Jenny Lucas began making pottery 'way back' in 1990 while students of Mr. Carl Block at Waxahachie High School. We quickly became dedicated clay students and even built our own wood-fired catenary arch kiln to fire our pots while still in High School. While we both took a break from pottery to attend college, start our careers, and start a family, we always knew that we would one day return to making pots.

We use high-fire stoneware clay, mix our own glazes, and  fire our pots in our wood-fired train kiln that is located in East Texas. Many of the unique and unpredictable effects on the pots are a result of ash from the wood used to fuel the kiln. We not only love the results of the ash on the pots fired in the kiln, but we also love the process of firing a wood-fired kiln. Don't forget to check out our Kiln Firing page for photos and more information.

All of our pottery is oven, dishwasher, and microwave safe and contains no lead.
